This is how Wattpad looks like and I borrowed this lovely screenshot from: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/jul/06/margaret-atwood-wattpad-online-writing
Basically it's like all the fan fiction sites I've been to before, AsianFanFics and Quizilla. What made it a hit to me because your work has a chance to be read and discovered unlike at Quizilla that I really was lost and didn't know how it works, as for AFF, the site is only filled with Asian Fan Fiction, hence its name, and I cannot explore all the other possible genres I can write. Political thriller has been one of my favorite genres and who knows I might want to write one with my own original characters.
Wattpad's a great community, filled with amateur to professional writers and different types of readers. It also unleashes the hidden writing skills of a great number of fans, they get inspiration from those who already are deemed by the community as 'Wattpad writers' and are featured frequently on the homepage. I myself is an amateur writer and recently got started with my first Wattpad story which is a One Direction fan fiction, check it out here: What Does Not Burn You <3
Contests are also being held annually, most locally known as The Watty Awards by Wattpad users. People enter their stories under appropriate genres for readers and other writers vote for the best entry. Winners can win as much as $20,000 and those who didn't win will not go home unrewarded. For more information about The Watty Awards, visit this link: http://www.wattpad.com/watty
From the deepest chamber of my cone-shaped heart, I am grateful to Allen Lau and Ivan Yuen for the foundation of Wattpad.
