Book Review #5: The Color of Tea

I found this book on a thrift book store not a long time ago. I was just passing by and killing some time, usually doing this for therapeutical reasons and I don't know how it is to me wellness.

To be honest, I was attracted by the cover and the title of the story alone, nonetheless, I had to make sure I won't be fooled by my weird ways of buying a book, I read the synopsis at the back.

After much deliberation, I finally decided to purchase the book mainly due to its theme. Chick lit,and that I thought it was a light read. But what really motivated me to buy it is that the story will revolve around a cafĂ© with lots of macarons!

Personally, I am a sucker for all things sweet and I really hoped that I would make a connection with this book. I did. But I was hoping for a detailed description of how these little cakes were made. I guess that really wasn't the intention of the author.

I also love the author's country preferences, maybe that's why it felt like home just reading the book. I almost cried while riding bound for home when I was reaching the end of it.

Regarding the plot and characters, they were all good. And I love how accurate she is with what is happening, though I can't really feel the Chinese New Year in Macau when she describes it, I guess Chinese New Years are different from place to place. And also, it was gratifying that Filipinos were somehow part of the main characters, even if one was weak yet there was also a strong one.

I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 and will answer the questions at the back later when I finish reviewing my anatomy notes. Ciao!
