Fangirl, as written by Rainbow Rowell, is a New York Times Bestselling Novel for young adults.
Mainly, the story focuses on Cath, a misunderstood red-head twin obsessed with a certain fandom that took her to become a rising fan fiction writer.
A self-confessed nerd and a college freshman taking a writing course recommended for higher years, she discovers that there is more to be experienced in life than just behind the world she's currently enjoying, the great world wide web.
The story starts with Cath and Wren, her twin sister, move out from their house to settle in their dormitories in the campus of the university. Cath seems to be in a conflicting decision due to her father's status being a single parent and would be left alone for the most of the semester.
Starting life anew, Wren decides to break free from the twin bond, planned beforehand to separate ways with her sister beginning with their room assignments, the classes they'll be taking and her surprising decision to have her hair fashioned in a pixie-like manner making her look different from Cath.
At first, Cath resents Wren with her actions, preferring the companionship of her friend than her sister. An introvert, Cath was never comfortable with new people, especially her new roommate, Reagan, I think she's a senior, who's a liberated girl who lives according to her likes and taking a boy under her wing, Levi, who, later in the novel will be revealed as her ex-boyfriend.
In her advanced class, Cath meets Nick, a striking boy who ultimately became her writing partner and spent nights with him on the library writing for their class.
The novel brings me in a whirlwind of emotion as I put myself in Cath's shoes as she experience dissapointment, heartbreak and eventually acceptance of everything that happened to her for the past year.
I'm giving this a four out five rating.
