Since yesterday, I have been encountering these words, Gayo and Daejeon. From our fanbase at @UKISSeop91, then at Allkpop, then at YouTube, almost every place I always go to. But like me, the question in mind is: What is Gayo Daejeon?
According to my research (which I ended up in Wikipedia), SBS Gayo Daejeon is a major annual end-of-the-year music program broadcasted on 29 December by Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS). It was started in 1997 and awards were given to entertainers.
So that's what Gayo Daejeon is all about. *satisfied look* But here's more, as far as I'm concerned, on the related articles of SBS Gayo Daejeon: MBC Gayo Daejeon and KBS Gayo Dachukje.
MBC Gayo Daejeon (according to Wikipedia again) is also a major annual end-of-the-year music program broadcasted on December 31 (then that's tomorrow) by Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation.
As for KBS Gayo Daechukje (according to Wikipedia for the third time), is also a major annual end-of-the-year music program on December 30 (today) by Korean Broadcasting System replacing the KBS Music Awards.
To conclude, these three major events are held annually and are participated by the most prestigious of all KPOP groups, some debut in these events. Just like this year, as far as I know, EXO (SM Entertainment's new boy group) debuted in SBS Gayo Daejun yesterday, alongside Pledis Entertainment's Pledis Boys.
So how did I get to know of these events? Let's just say that if I live in the Internet, my mother would be lost in looking for me because I am too much of a traveler and I love surfing the net and loitering around some places I already feel comfortable with. Like for example, I was on my duty at @UKISSeop91 yesterday evening and was busily updating our Twitter and Facebook account. As I was peering through the recent posts, I found a video link of U-KISS's SBS Gayo Daejun performance posted by MS KIM (a co-admin of mine) and so I watched that. Then at Twitter, they (KISS MES) were also very much hysterical, not only with greeting the former U-KISS member Kim Kibum a very happy 20th birthday, but also because of the day's event.
And earlier this morning, while I was out on my fan fictions, a notification popped into my wall wherein a friend of mine from that site just posted a blog post. And so due to my intrusiveness, I pried over to the titled which was again related to Gayo Daejun, but this time it was about B1A4 and Dal Shabet collaborating on a hot and sizzling number, of course I wasn't approve of that especially with Sandeul being my bias, and after all, it's been months since I have heard of Dal Shabet but I didn't dare get to know them.
And the there it was again, on my Facebook newfeeds was a video link of APink's performance, which was by the way so cool. (Besides 2NE1 and After School, they're my girl group bias). And those three big coincidences (not to mention the coincidence relating to hundreds of other teens on Twitter just awhile ago who were busy replying to their biases who tweeted a lot, most especially Soo Hyun of U-KISS tweeting, "I love you, kiss me", now who wouldn't scramble for that? And also, Kiseop's recent Twitpics mentioning more about their performance. More over are some Kiss Mes who have been disappointed of themselves for not winning U-KISS and making them on Top 7, though I was there too and posted an apology tweet to the Oppas) made me wonder what the heck is this Gayo Daejun anyway and I zoomed here to blog it.
Since I am now fully equipped with the right knowledge about Korean Television events, I shall not miss these next year (and pray that we will change our cable operator so I can watch them :winks:) and who knows, I might blog about them again.
