Last night was a Friday night so my younger brother and I decided to rummage our VCD and DVD closet for movies to watch since there's not much we could find by skipping the channels of the television.
My brother's hand grab hold of a VCD we bought a few weeks ago, but I was too busy with school works lately to even bother checking it out and what with the unfortunate stubborn nature of the DVD player outside in the living room that won't play anything I insert into it. So yeah, my brother and I watched the movie inside their room and laughed our butts with this zesty romantic-comedy from Thailand!
The title of the movie is 'Hello Stranger', a Thai romantic-comedy movie directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and the main cast comprised of two main protagonists; Chunthawit Thanasewi as the cynic boy who got left by his travel company and Nuengthida Sophon as the girl who helped the boy find his tour group.
Situated in Seoul, South Korea, the movie captivated my heart as I was and still (a little) a South Korean enthusiast as they traipse along the famous landmarks and as they go on further, found love just after a few days of goofing around.
The girl, who introduced herself as May, later in the movie felt like it was wrong to feel anything for the boy as he is a stranger and she had just broken up with her boyfriend when the boy, aliased as Dang, professed his confused emotions for May. Then they had a row which ended for them to realize how much they truly feel something blossoming towards each other.
After a few days, the two decided to go back to Thailand as a couple. That's when an old flame responded to the charity of May for Dang. In this part, my brother was truly teary-eyed in which I didn't expect for him to be. The movie ended with a cliffhanger, the typical Thai/Korean rom-com and my brother was truly frustrated at it he was mumbling rude things going out of the room and never came back.
In a nutshell, I give the movie a four out of five stars because the plot was original and plus points for picking Seoul as the setting of the story. Then there's how my brother and I was swayed by the acting capabilities of the actors and the twists in the course of events leaving my brother shifting from emotions he rarely shows. xx
